The Bridge Project:
The Bridge Project is a community based organisation located in Francis Street, Dublin 8. We support men with a history of imprisonment to develop strengths and skills to prepare for education, employment and enterprise.
We are delighted to work in partnership with Rothar to be able to provide Ireland’s first ever professional qualification in Bicycle Mechanics. This venture was made possible by funding received from St. Stephen’s Green Trust.

Rothar has 6 years experience working with a whole host of community groups throughout Dublin, including Foróige, the Base Ballyfermot, Pavee Point, Rathmines community partnership, BEST, Dublin City Council among others.
These training sessions are generally extremely rewarding for ourselves and for our participants. We love doing them and they tend to be very successful.
There is a flat rate for community groups and there is generally 16 hours of training provided for the Build your own Bike course over an 8 week period. We provide the bikes and the parts and the kids get to keep the bikes at the end of the training! We ask people to come to us because we have everything on site.
We also offer a ‘train the trainer’ course. Here we build the capacity of youth and community workers to be able to run their own Build your own Bike course. We give advice on what equipment is needed, how to organise the workshops, what to start with etc. We can also supply a starter kit to help you get the ball rolling.
