ACCREDITED COURSE City&Guilds Level 2 Certificate In Cycle Mechanics - 8 Week Course
This course is equally suited to people already working in the cycle industry who want an internationally recognised qualification or keen cyclists interested in taking their maintenance or bike building skills to the next level.
As the bike industry in Ireland is flourishing there are opportunities within this field for certified bike mechanics.
The classes are held in our training centre on Francis st, D8 and run from 9.30am to 3.30pm for 8 weeks.
Social welfare training allowance:
This course is approved by the Social Welfare ‘Training Support Grant’. For more see their website or call your local SW office and ask your Social Welfare Officer.
COURSE CONTENT OVERVIEW:
Unit 0: Introduction, Health & Safety, Parts of a Bike, Workshop Etiquette
Unit 1: Tyres, Tubes & Puncture Repair
Unit 2: Remove and Replace a Cycle Rim Brake Assembly
Unit 3: Transmission – Remove & Replace a Cycle Gear Assembly
Unit 4: Service Cycle Hubs: cup & cone and sealed cartridge
Unit 5: Servicing Headset Assemblies (threaded and threadless) including frame prep.
Unit 6: Service Bottom Brackets (3 piece, cartridge, and outboard) including frame prep.
Unit 7: Wheel Lacing and Tensioning
Unit 8: Systematic Cycle Check
Unit 9: Strip and Rebuild of a bicycle
Unit 10: Fitting Bicycle Accessories

Completion of Units 1, 2, 3, and 8 are necessary for the level 1 certificate, any additional units passed will be noted on the certificate; Completion of all units is necessary for the level 2 certificate

The classes start on time. Please let us know in advance if you will be late as the front desk is not manned at this time
We can only reschedule your date if there is a waiting list and we are able to re-sell your spot.
If you are unable to attend the workshop you can give your place to your friend or family member. Please email us as soon as you can before the course with the name and contact details of the person attending in your place.
If we are advised by the Government to postpone the workshops we will resume them as soon as it is possible.

What should I wear/bring?
Bring your own bike and wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting a bit messy.
Should I wear a mask? As per the government's regulations you will be required to wear a mask during the workshop.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
This course is for people aged 18 and above.
Is my booking transferrable?
You can transfer your booking into someone else's name - just let us know before they attend.
